Apple has been beavering away at the iWatch for the past year, with a team of around 100 product designers now working on the rumoured wristwatch computer.
That suggests, according to Bloomberg's sources, that Apple is "beyond the experimentation phase in its development" – pointing to the possibility of a launch sooner rather than later.
Adding to the likelihood of an impending launch for the iWatch is Bloomberg's suggestion that Apple CEO Tim Cook is facing pressure from investors concerned about competition from rivals including Samsung.
Earlier reports have suggested that the rumoured iWatch (if that's what it ends up being called) will use iOS and will feature a curved glass design.
So, will it be iWatch or Google Project Glass that'll be first to market with a wearable computer? The race is on. And with Apple's iTV television set rumoured to launch this summer, this could be a make or break year for Cupertino.
