Toshiba Portege R600 heading to UK

Toshiba has already unveiled its super–slim Portege R600 in the States. And now the laptop, billed as the thinnest in the world, is making its way to the UK right now. It weighs just 800g, meaning you'll barely feel the heft when you sling it into your man bag in the way to work.

Like its predecessor, the top–notch Portege R500, it comes with an optical drive and a slew of features to make lightweight rivals the MacBook Air and Voodoo Envy wince.

There are two to pick from – a 128GB SSD version and a 200GB HDD edition. Both pack a hearty 3GB of RAM, 3G HSDPA for getting online wherever you are, Bluetooth, Wi–Fi, Intel Core 2 Duo and a 12in screen, meaning you can the portability of a netbook with the grunt of something a whole lot fancier.

Prices will kick off at a quid under £1,100. Not cheap, but considering what you're getting, hardly an obscene amount. If you want something a little less likely to bring on bankruptcy, then Tosh has also just rolled out a new 3G–packing Portege A600 for £849, with 250GB HDD and 5GB memory support.
