The ultimate guide to WiiWare
Right then, what is it?Essentially, it’s Nintendo’s own version of Xbox Live Arcade, but with sharper graphics and some truly bonkers titles. They’re hoping it’s going to dole out another hearty slap to Microsoft, by letting anyone develop and submit games.Neat. So, how much will it cost me?800 Wii points, about £5.50, will get you Hudson Soft’s Star Soldier R, with prices rising to a rather hefty 1,500 points. Admittedly that’ll snag you Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, so you’ll get a good few hours for your virtual cash. Other titles cost 1,000 points. So that’s the wonga sorted. What games can I get?At launch there are six games, including Final Fantasy and Star Soldier R. You can also lay your hands on Dr Mario and Germ Buster, Toki Tori, TV Show King and Lost Winds. The latter looks absolutely awesome and is definitely our pick of the current offerings.Ok, but none of those games do it for meOh very really! Well, it’s just as well Ninty has said it’ll update the channel every Monday, bringing you spanking new games by hot new developers and stalwarts of the gaming industry.Yeah, yeah, but I want to make my own gamesYou do? Well set to work and send your efforts to Nintendo and they’ll let you know if it makes the grade. Go on then, get your game on.

What programmes are recommended for creating games to port to WiiWare? If anyone wants a review on Final Fantasy or Lost Winds feel free to ask.
