Snow Leopard details slip out

23 Jun 2008

Snow LeopardSnow LeopardWhile Snow Leopard isn’t going to be the complete overhaul of Leopard we all thought, leaked screens do show it is going to bring some neat additions to Apple’s killer OS.

The shots, first spotted on a German Mac fansite, show a revamped address book, and, best of all, Safari 4.0. While savvy punters might prefer Firefox, Apple’s new browser will let you save pages as mini–apps, meaning you can open them without firing up Safari first.

Apple has said previously that Snow Leopard will be more of a back end refresh rather than a complete redesign. Either way, it’s slated to hit Macs everywhere next year, most likely at Macworld in January.

What do you think? Should Apple revamp Leopard? Or is Snow Leopard enough to get your Apple–hungry teeth into? Let us know in the ads section.

Back-end changes are all fine and good... but they're not going to make us pay for Snow Leopard, are they?

Leopard is less than a year old, and so a complete OS refresh is not required. Most people have probably not fully exploited the additional features leopard has over Tiger. I'm still waiting to try out Time machine for example. A behind the scenes performance boost with a complete overhaul of the OS late 2009/early 2010 is fine, and the platform is still way for advanced than Vista.

when i wanted a mac, i did that as i thought i would have problems upgrading software. however, typical apple you get every updated feature and it is a breaze to install (unlike a PC).

you will be waiting an eternity with a thought process like that.
