Slimmed down PS3 spotted in the wild
Sony has already slapped down talk of a redesigned PS3 landing at E3 next month, telling reporters they had "no plans" for such a major change. However, that's not stopped shots of the new hub surfacing online, apparently showing off an incredibly slim version of the increasingly popular console.Engadget has got the full scoop, grabbing the shots from a Far East source. While this fits with chatter we've heard in recent months about an update, the pics do throw up some big questions. Can this supposed 120GB model really be so small? And why does the logo not appear the same as the current PS3 insignia? We wouldn't be surprised to see something outed at E3. After all it'll be three years this Christmas since it first landed in Japan. And where better to do it than the biggest gaming show on Earth? With this and a new PSP, Sony would surely give the slap down to Microsoft and Nintendo.

It wouldn't be a big surprise for Sony to bring out a new slimmer PS3. They did the same with the PS2 a long time ago. It is more a question of will the new (possibly slimmer) PS3 be enough to persuade consumers to choose it over its rivals. With the ever growing popularity of the PS3 has Sony been right all along? Have we been wrong to doubt its strategy? Or will the PS3 be a big failure with new and exciting models replacing it before it can gain any significant market share! Only time will tell but frankly i see the PS3 going from strength to strength and a price cut in the future along with the ever increasing amount of incredible games will surely make it more attractive to consumers and make for an interesting battle between Xbox and Sony. Which can only mean more goodies in the future for us, as both companies aim to gain an edge over their competitor!
