Sky Player on Xbox 360 launch plagued by teething problems?
UPDATE: Sky has confirmed the problems with Sky Player on Xbox 360 on its official blog. The post reads:
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are currently experiencing some technical issues with our much-anticipated launch of Sky Player on Xbox 360.
Please rest assured we are working extremely hard behind the scenes to rectify this as soon as possible, and we look forward to bringing TV from Sky to your Xbox 360 console very soon".
*****************************
We are hearing reports that the Sky Player on Xbox 360 is having its fair share of teething problems on its first day.
Not only were we unable to get a live demo at its official launch earlier today, now some users are reporting the Sky Player option has disappeared from the Xbox 360 dashboard altogether.
Stuff.tv user The_Corporal first reported the problems to us, describing the launch as an “epic failure” on behalf of Sky and Microsoft.
He added: “First I was getting nothing but connection errors, now they have removed sky player from the dashboard altogether”.
This is no doubt a huge disappointment for many Xbox 360 users who have been built up to this launch for months.

It may be a little while before Sky Player is fully online for Xbox 360 users - the Sky Player Announcements page (updated lunchtime on Weds 28th Oct) confirms that they have "temporarily suspended all access to the service" because "we did not have the capacity to satisfy all service requests" - see the full statement here: http://bit.ly/2z6jeS
The announcement also reveals that they are "implementing a revised roll-out" - which suggests a phased approach, more than likely requiring some additional registration, in an attempt to reduce the initial (and probably short-lived) surge in demand.
All-in-all, quite a major embarrassment for Microsoft or Sky; or perhaps both.
