Samsung shows off NC20 netbook

22 Dec 2008

If there’s one certainty about 2009, other than the fact that we’ll all be homeless, it’s that netbooks will come thick and fast. And to prove our point, Samsung has already announced a successor to its fledgling NC10.The NC20’s main change is boosting the screen size to 12in, which combined with its 1.5kg weight means it’ll really be pushing the boundaries of what we’d call acceptable for a netbook.Elsewhere, it has the same firepower that convinced us to make its predecessor no.2 in our Netbook Top 10. There’s a 160GB hard-drive, a 1.3Ghz VIA processor, 1GB RAM and both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. We’re just hoping it can match the NC10’s awesome six-hour battery life, and comes in a little cheaper in February than its early price tag suggests – it’ll apparently be going for 450 euros (about £430). I don't think the members of SammyNetbook.com would agree that the NC10 would come number 2 in a list of top current netbooks!  The NC20 is looking like a slick machine but at the extra cost it will surely only appeal to those requiring a bigger laptop?
