PS3 update to bring FaceBook access
With the Xbox 360 recently announcing Facebook and Twitter access for Live subscribers, the PS3 couldn't stay out of the social networking game for long – and, sure enough, a leaked screenshot suggests a 'FaceyB' update for Sony's console is imminent.ScrawlFX managed to grab a few screenshots of a FaceBook icon in the PS3's XMB from the UK PlayStation site, before Sony apparently took them down. There's no news on when the firmware update will be available, but it'll need to be soon to take some limelight from the Xbox 360, which recently generated buzz (then a few complaints) with the launch of Sky Player. Then again, with the 'kids' apparently ditching FaceBook in favour of sating their Twitter cravings the PS3 better give us micro-blogging access sharpish if it doesn't want to get left behind.

Although I use Facebook rather a lot I don't think I will be using this feature on my PS3, my normal routine is to have my laptop at the side of me on my desk with Facebook up, whist playing CoD MW2 on the PS3. I can't see myself turning my Playstation on just for the use of Facebook!

Yeah, agreed. The main thing I would like is Twitter integration so it could auto update from my trophies list and allow me to comment whilst paused (ie; press the PS3 button, select Twitter, comment, then dive back into the game). Otherwise I use my iPhone for FB and Twitter -- I'd never turn my PS3 on just for this (although I understand that some people would).

just use the web browser to go to the website ... its there now ... why you'd want to use it on a PS3 is beyond me ... its easier to use it on a mobile anyway, especially now they have that News feed / Live feed thing .. what the hell is that all about ... I wish they'd stop tinkering with it!
