Microsoft prepping Natal-packing Xbox for 2010?
We were suitably impressed with Microsoft's Project Natal at E3, but what we first thought would be a straight out console accessory is now rumoured to be the integral part of the next Xbox. The rumour first surfaced last week, when 1Up reported the new console would be considered as a new platform, with new name, branding and packaging, and have all the Natal technology built-in.Aimed at a mainstream audience to directly rival the Wii, the console is rumoured to be here next autumn and appear along shelves next to the current 360 – so there is quite a wait yet folks. Microsoft has rather carefully responded to the rumours through Eurogamer, with a spokesperson stating: “I can confirm that Natal will run on Xbox 360 so no new console investment will be necessary.”Far from an out and out denial, suggesting a new console won't be "necessary" almost suggests that a new console would be an option for those who wanted to fork out the cash. What do you think? Does Xbox 360 need a revamp to stay on top of its game? Let us know your thoughts below.

If anything what microsoft meant was repromoting not rebranding - they have the brand image required to beat wii off so badly their heads will just about be visible. They have a design that could change entertainment - a must have for all rather than simply put: "a games system". What everyone is missing is that natal is part of a wider aim, a concept, which could seal Microsoft's future fate. Natal is the beginning of a very long cycle NOT part of 10 year program both the Sony team and Microsoft expect from their creations. If you would have noticed Balmer is hitting hard at the doors at Redmong Washington - their show at E3 set the standards (both in terms of announcments but also the actual presentation - Wii and Sony were, kindly put, Dull) Many ask why the Zune HD is not translated into a phone. I say open you eyes. This is the beginning of a cycle. The Zune HD, if sucessful, will go onto become a phone. Probably a very good one considering the talent within the company, Microsoft's envisionary mastermind Gates and the momentum they are carrying. I realise I have gone off topic and perhaps even my anger at all the Microsoft antagonists is showing. Microsoft will not announce another Xbox - why should they? It would make no sense that all the millions of dollars put to build the bridge that makes Microsoft's brand image would suddenly be detonated.
