Microsoft Kinect UK pricing revealed

Microsoft has finally announced UK pricing of Kinect its Xbox UK facebook page, and while it isn't particularly cheap, it's about what we expected.
The Kinect hardware with Kinect Adventures game is £129.99, while an Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect and Kinect Adventures will set you back £249.99.
15 games will be available at launch, with Kinect-specific titles including Kinectimals, Kinect Sports, and Kinect Joy Ride will cost £39.99
You can pre-order yours now at play.com and other retailers, if you're really keen.
We previously showed you the Kinect specs, and predicted the price at somewhere in between £100 and £160. Looks like we got it bang on, then.

Bit of a kick in the mouth for those people who have just upgraded to a Xbox slim for £200 and who now need to shell out an additional £130 for the Kinect.
Hang on though, is that correct that the bundled Xbox will only have a 4Gb HD. What price are they going to charge for upgrading the HD?

I upgraded to the new 360 s for the grand sum of £99 by trading in my old elite. Not too bad when you consider what the cost would have been to buy the wireless adapter and 250GB HDD for my old elite.
The 4gb ( incidently internal flash storage not an HDD) model is a replacement for the current xbox 360 arcade. It'll cost £149.99 on it's own, the current model's RRP is £129.99 but has less storage and no built in wifi.
The cost of the Kinect is more or less what I expected, I'll probably pick one up to keep the kids entertained.

Between £100 and £160, bang on? How so?

I'll need a fair bit of convincing to shell out £130 on this. I haven't been swayed into buying a WII and while this seems cool. I'll hold off!

If it does what the videos show then it will be well worth it. Yet again as an early adopter I have one on order!

The lack of blu-ray support means that if anyone wants 3D games and 3D films on a 360, they will have to wait for a £120 add-on (like the original HD DVD add-on) or the xbox 720.
The lack of 3D support restricts the potential of the kinect sensor because the technology will work better if the user could touch a virtual icon or hold a virtual steering wheel or kick a virtual football or hold a virtual gun or play boxing with a virtual boxer.
The point is that the kinect sensor has a less immersive effect when you do random hand signs versus actually touching a virtual object. Kinect is a great idea but has been released to early and will probably have a better market strategy by advertising this with 3D with an xbox 720 (with blu ray and included kinect) for E3 2011 or E3 2012.
