MacBook Air gets an update
Not content with giving the MacBook Pro a complete overhaul, Apple has just announced a heft to their controversial MacBook Air, offrering bigger hard drives and better graphics.
There are now 128GB SSD and 120GB HDD versions, with NVIDIA graphics to make that swanky screen look even tastier. The cheaper, $1,799 model will pack the regular hard drive, withe $2,499 edition taking on the Flash version. So just as you were then.
Elsewhere, specs remain the same, but Apple will be keen for you to hook it up to their new 24in LED Cinema Display, which it's also announced. It has a 1920x1200 resolution and will be yours to own from November.

Pretty sure that USA prices are quoted without GST as tax varies from state to state while in the UK there is 17.5% VAT added. Blame the government rather than Apple

How do you explain the competitive Iphone pricing plan and also the Ipods are quite closely matched.

The tax added to the white macbook in the U.S. is $83.67 (in New York anyway), which at today's exchange rate is £48. Whereas the tax on the U.K version is £107.09. Then you have higher shipping costs etc.
