JooJoo tablet arrives in the UK

28 Apr 2010

The JooJoo tablet has beaten Apple’s iPad to UK shelves. And it wants you to know all the things it can do that its headline-grabbing rival can’t.

Fusion Garage’s 12.1in touchscreen computer can be ordered now from the company’s online store. It boasts (and we use the word advisedly) Flash support and USB connections, as well as a nine-second boot time for its browser based OS.

The Wi-Fi tablet is aimed at internet junkies who want to ‘experience all the internet has to offer’, not least hi-def online vids, social networking and music.

Like Apple’s forthcoming iPad, it gets its UI kicks via touch and gesture, and text is tapped in on a full-size on-screen keyboard.

Fancy it? You can order it now at FG’s online store for £320 (plus £15 shipping). The JooJoo Stand is also available for £30.

We'll be getting our mitts on the tablet very soon, so keep an eyeball on Stuff.tv for first impressions and hands-on pics.

The great thing about this device, apart from flash, is that it has a capacitive touch screen so it can be used easily.

On the other hand it's rubbish! I'm the first to admit the iPad has some design issues. But this thing is just a hevaly watered down version of it. They keep compairing it to the iPad (not in so many words) and it just keeps highlighting what a weak contender it is. A pathetic 4 gig of capacity shows this thing is meant for nothing more than blogging and browsing. They don't have an apps store and it isn't instant on. Looks like a waste of time/money to me.

well it looks like that apple, have there tech being equaled or bettered. this looks stunning.and got everything ipad has plus more. the only thing is the issue here, its not a brand anybody has heard so it might not sell that well. shame it looks awesome. just shows theres more stuff out there just as clever as apple.

Those who have good things to say about this crap apparently don't know much about it. It's a horrendous device and the company is currently fighting a lawsuit from TechCrunch. Need to know mroe? Of course Google is your friend.

There's the Wepad to consider as well, whihc may offer the best of both world's including Android's apps.

Apple will be shaking in their Californian flip flops, with this one, sales of the iPad = 1 million, sales of the JooJoo = 64. It's a iPad killer without doubt. Gordon Brown's got more chance of winning the election than this thing selling more 100 units worldwide. On par with the Zune, useless, no reason the buy, no apps, no games. Remind me, why should anyone buy this again?

It looks quite good but I don't think it is really comparable to the ipad. more like a touchscreen netbook. The fact it has no 3G is a real let down personally because I don't always have access to a network, however it shows what could be done if some of the major brands had a go.

The Joo Joo Tablet itself is thin and lightweight. I really like it. It's not much of a stretch to label the design of it "oversized iPhone," and of course with it we're reminded that a all-glass front panel tends to attract enough fingerprints to satisfy any aspiring gumshoe.
