HP Mini 1000 and Compaq 700 – official deets unveiled

The HP Mini 1000 was as good as official on Monday, when everyone's favourite pricey netbook maker leaked the news on their own official site. Well, now, the official details are out for all to see, with HP handing over pricing and specs on both the HP Mini 1000 and the new Compaq Mini 700.

Both are netbooks of the 10in variety, so bashing out emails and filling in web questionnaire's isn't going to give you cramp within, ooh, 30 seconds. The Mini 1000 comes with the regular Intel Atom processor, 8GB or 16GB SSD, Bluetooth and webcam as standard.

They've also stuck on a new 'Mobile Internet Experience' so punters can grab any music, video or snaps via one handy interface. This means you can get instant access to your favourite apps too, so start–up time is kept to a minimum.

If you're a bit more strapped, then the Compaq 700 offers Bluetooth and Wi–Fi, for £299. That's a ton less than the specced up Mini 1000, which kicks off at £399. The Compaq hits stores in December, with the Mini 1000 showing up in January.

And for those who want something a bit, well, naff, then the already announced Vivienne Tam Mini 1000, billed as a "digital clutch", should do the trick. Not that you're paying for a swanky cover and not much else, honest.
