Gigabyte's tablet UMPC gets UK price
We've had the Eee, the One, the Wind and several squillion other UMPCs but now there's a new mini notebook in town - and it swivels.
Yes, the Gigabyte M912, with its rotating 8.9in display and hand writing recognition, is a fully paid up member of the tablet PC club and the UMPC gang.
Expansys is already taking pre-orders, asking £400 for the Vista loving M912V. It gets a 1.6GHz Intel Atom chip, 1280x768 display, 160GB hard drive and 1GB RAM.
For £25 less you can put your name down for the M912X, which packs the same spec but opts for Windows XP.
For penny pinchers there's also a budget model, the M912M. It lowers the screen res to 1024x600 and loses the built-in Bluetooth of its pricier siblings. There's no UK price on it yet, but prices in the Far East point to a £340 sticker being placed on the box, by our maths at any rate.
We're peering into our crystal ball for a launch date but we're yet to make contact with the gadget spirits for an answer - still, seeing UK pricing up there is a promising sign.
