Asus Eee PC 1008HA – meet the Eee PC Shell
Last week, our netbook–loving hearts were set aflutter by talk of a new Eee PC Shell, a superthin lappie taking direct aim at the Apple MacBook Air. Well, its made its way into the wild today, under the far less catchy name of the Eee PC 1008HA.
Weighing in at just 1.1kg and measuring a mere inch deep when shut, the new machine is the sister of the excellent S101. It's set to come with either HSDPA or WiMAX depending on your preference, plus the usual netbook treat of an Intel Atom.
Asus is keeping other details, plus pricing, out of the limelight for now. But they have also confirmed that their awesome S121 Eee PC, spotted at CES in January, will come packing a massive 512GB SSD when it launches later this year.
We're chasing up for more details on this killer new machine, so keep it locked to Stuff.tv for more news as we get it. And if you're after a netbook, make sure you read our 5 things you need to know now.

Trouble is, when you put yourself near the same price-bracket as the Air (as I suspect this will be), there is only one winner and it ain't this one. The whole appeal of these netbooks is the small price allowing 90% functionality with Linux or even XP. This model will no doubt be released with the new Dual-Core Atom which, whilst a much better prospect than the current Atom, is still several steps behind the Core 2 Duo + NVIDIA 9400 chipset of the Air.
Personally, the next portable I buy (I currently run a PowerBook G4 with Leopard!) will either be a MacBook or an Acer Aspire One with Linux for £170.00.
