Apple gives iMac a power-up

03 Mar 2009

Not content with unveiling a shiny new Mac Mini and Mac Pro, Apple has also given its iMac range a turbo boost. The main differences are faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors, new NVIDIA graphics across the line and an extra injection of memory, with the range’s aluminium finish and 1920x1200 display unchanged. If you have £1800 handy the top of the range 24in model is now powered by a 3.06GHz processor, has a healthy 4GB memory and has a 1TB hard-drive in its belly. The bad news is that the bottom of the line 20in iMac is now slightly more expensive at £950, but runs on a 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM and a generous 320GB hard-drive.Squeezed in between are two more 24in models priced at £1200 and £1500 – they have 2.66Ghz and 2.93Ghz processors respectively, with the latter also rocking a slightly more powerful NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 graphics card.
