Apple 3G tablet: US carrier chosen?

22 Jul 2009

The hard headed business hacks at The Street say Apple has signed up US network Verizon as the carrier for an Apple tablet with built-in 3G.  The Apple 3G tablet will be data only unlike the Archo's rumoured Android toting tablet. Obviously given Apple's Soviet-style secrecy there's no hint of a release date.  It's likely that the Apple 3G tablet will run some flavour of OS X but tweaks are bound to be needed to suit the new device.  As for a British carrier for the tempting touchscreen tablet, it's again all to play for. Vodafone does own a chunk of Verizon but the US 3G standard is different to ours.  Steve Jobs has slated the idea of a Apple tablet in the past but remember, he said the same about video iPods. A few months later, a video iPod hoved into view.  Do you fancy fondling a touchscreen 3G tablet from Apple or will the high-price and  form factor prove too much to swallow? Take a read of the previous rumours that make us think an Apple 3G touchscreen tablet is a cert for October.  (via The Street)

I have always wanted a tablet mac. The price of the Modbook is too pricey though.
