5 things we want from the new MacBook and MacBook Pro
It's mere hours until Steve Jobs dons his turtle neck, heaves up his high–waisted 501s and takes to the stage to unveil the new MacBook and MacBook Pro. So, while we wait with wallets at the ready, here are five hot features we want from the new Apple notebooks.Low, low pricesRumours of a $899 MacBook are getting hotter by the day. The equivalent £450 price tag probably won't come to pass, but a £500 Apple netbook, or £600 cut price MacBook are not unlikely. Mac style and build at that price would make gadget hounds very happy indeed.Stuff.tv probability factor 4/5The return of the 12in MacWe loved the 12in iBook, perhaps a little too hard. Its slinky frame was big enough for proper computing and small enough to shove in your bag and cart about. A dead low price would surely mean cutting the screen back down to 12in and bringing back those happy iBook days.Stuff.tv probability factor 4/5Full multitouch on the MacBook ProOk, the current Pro rocks multitouch capabilities, but wouldn't it be cool if the trackpad morphed into an iPhone–style glass trackpad, where you could use coverflow, flick through snaps and generally arse about on your Mac at the swipe of a finger? It could happen!Stuff.tv probability factor 3/5Built in 3GLaptops with HSDPA built–in are something we're getting increasingly addicted to. Stick it in a MacBook and you'll be saved from turning your designer laptop into an unseemly home for an ugly dongle. Add a subsidised network deal, and you're laughing.Stuff.tv probability factor 2/5Bigger hard drivesWe've said it before, but 120GB on a MacBook just doesn't cut it these days. Up it to 250GB and you're looking at plenty of space for all your records, a touch of illicit goodies and a few HD movies to boot.Stuff.tv probability factor 4/5Essentials New MacBook and MacBook Pro Price: £TBA On sale: October Contact: Apple
