160GB PS3 set for October
Following hot on the heels of the new PSP 3000, Sony has confirmed it's readying a 160GB PS3 for those with "an insatiable thirst for downloadable content." The new version of the hub is set to hit in October for around £350.
The news comes just as Brits are about to get their first taste of the £299 80GB PS3, due out this Friday. Whether this changes things for new punters remains to be seen, but the offer of bundled network content might means the 160GB is more of a bargain than it seems.
Sony wouldn't be drawn on specifics about what the extra goods included would be. Neither did it say whether the new machine will also have more USB ports and backwards compatibility. With previous comments suggesting any such additions wouldn't happen in the future, we're betting against.

Well thanks Sony. I go out and get the 40gb version and now the 80gb is on the way for the same price and now this!! The amount of updates etc that your games take up is stupid so I could do with a better HDD. I guess sony like releasing 8,000 versions of the consoles they produce.

If you did only just get it then you might be able to get it swapped. A few stores are already selling them from what I've heard so have a look in your local store. When the 60GB had a price-drop (a week after I got mine) many stores allowed a credit-note or paid back the money. Not the £400 but around £50. Which was nice! :D

Iv got a 60 gb ps3 with a 320gb hard drive inside. I doubt this ps3 could have any more features. Fingers crossed!

That's awesome news...I bought my PS3 on launch so it has everything...and I upgraded the HDD to 250...its the ultimate machine

i'm sorry is this about the xbox or the ps3? the extra hard dive space can be had for less money if you just get one off the net. Sony is just becoming like microsoft when they don't need to!!!
