Is Apple making its own console?

Mac users have long been ridiculed for their lack of gaming power, not in the least bit helped by failed ventures like the Apple Pippin. But with Steam for Mac becoming a reality last year, the taunting subsided and Apple’s recent hiring of Robert Saunders (formerly Nintendo UK’s head of PR) is another indication of a more gaming-centric focus by the computer company. Let’s just hope this latest hiring stirs up some creative winds and strengthens the contention of iDevices as viable portable gaming systems. Or does Apple have more serious console plans in the works? Would you buy an Apple iPlay?

An apple console... I'd be interested, but that's gonna be a hard Market to break into, I'll stick with my Xbox thanks.

No. A market dominated by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, Apple wouldnt have a chance. But then Apple would have a chance (and probably will) in the portable market, with the iPad 2/iPhone 5 doing their A5-powered business with great guns. iTunes being their games distribution platform, and with free/home-brew games in the mix, as well as more A++ titles.

Even if it is as good as the xbox and ps3, most games developers probably won't buy in to it straight away and it may fail to launch well, and let's face it, it will cost so much more than an xbox, which will make microsoft think they can charge more knowing them, making it worse for anyone who enjoys gaming!

Of course it would take off! All the disciples would flock and buy a million on day 1! If they make an Apple tv/games/media streamer. The it would be a good idea. Plus mini games that tie into the ipad and iphone or stream to the ipad/iphone!? Then I suspect they would do very well indeed! App/game store ahoy!
