iPad 3 Retina Display confirmed?

As one of the head honchos of a tech company, you can't say anything these days without it being misconstrued or read into way too much, as LG's Display CEO has just discovered. According to the Korea Times, while talking to a bunch of reporters about LG's Retina Display he let slip more smartphone manufacturers will release new models employing LG's Retina Display "that has been used in iPhones and iPads". This is the moment the record cut and everyone started to speculate further on how much truth lies behind this spectacular rumour.
Have the beans been spilled on the iPad 3's display, or has this just been blown way out of proportion? We don't know. Like the rest of you, we're just going to have to wait until the evidence becomes more apparent, which will probably be when we're impatiently waiting for (hopefully) Jobs to make the announcement at an Apple launch event.
Despite what's currently doing the rounds on the web, we wouldn't go as far as saying a Retina Display for the iPad 3 has been confirmed, per se, but this certainly suggests, rather strongly, that the iPad 3 could come equipped with the iPhone 4's eye-bleedingly sharp Retina Display super powers. Here's hoping.

When it comes to industry rumours, where there is smoke, there is definitely fire. It would not be a surprise that the Retina Display would be used because the display has already become a success in the iPhone 4. it would be more of a surprise if the screen is not used.
