Apple MacBook RIP

20 Jul 2011

We won’t lie. Since the aluminium unibody MacBooks came along, we’ve barely looked at a plastic MacBook. But we still remember when the little white laptop shared an App Store page with its metal buddy.

Then things started to go wrong. The aluminium MacBooks got streamed into a class of their own – MacBook Pro – and the plastic Mac was left out in the virtual shed of the Apple Store.

Meanwhile, the skinny MacBook Air’s price dropped into (for Apple) entry-level territory. It currently sells for as little as £850.

Today marks the sad occasion when Apple finally saw fit to douse the shed with lawnmower fuel and torch it. The MacBook is dead. Rest in peace.
