Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 – Build

The S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 is modular, meaning it can be taken apart and put back together in a number of ways. We had a lot of fun moving the bits around to find a setup that worked for us – and everyone should be able to find a style that'll match their personal preferences.

The cursor keys are interchangeable, as are the WASD keys – so they can be replaced after the inevitable wear-and-tear from hardcore gamer usage. Oh, and there's an additional thumbwheel and function button on one of the module – so you may never even need to reach for the mouse again.

Naturally, the S.T.R.I.K.E. 7's keyboard is backlit for those late night gaming sessions. The arm rests are a nifty addition, too, giving the keyboard a comfortable feel, despite its not-so-sleek appearance.

Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 – Touchscreen

One of the five S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 modules features a touchscreen – using an interface called V.E.N.O.M. the LCD module can be used to access a range of applications and widgets, including web browser, instant messaging applications, a virtual clock, and a music controller.

Users can also put their own shortcut icons on the screen for easy access – we imagine developers are already thinking of ways to integrate the touchscreen module into the gaming experience.

Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 – Price and release date

The S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 begins shipping now. Yes, right now. Though be warned: it comes with a hefty £250 price tag, meaning this isn't one for the casual day-to-day PC user. Mind you, the fact that you have to assemble it out of five different modules is probably enough to turn off the casual gamer. If you're a picky PC gamer looking to maximise your actions per second, this could be the keyboard for you.
