Rumour Mill – Honeycomb tablets will all be dual-core

04 Jan 2011

The crystal ball for 2011 has shown us Google’s tablet-optimised future Android version, Honeycomb. It has also shown us phones (such as LG’s Optimus 2X) running dual-core processors (such as Nvidia’s Tegra 2 platform). Now the two have met in a credible rumour from PC Magazine that suggests all Honeycomb tablets will need to meet a minimum spec that includes a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor (as seen in the Tegra 2).It’s good news for punters who want a bit more welly from their flat-tops, but there could be early adopter tears from first-gen Galaxy Tab owners. On the plus side, the Galaxy Tab 2 looks likely to have Tegra 2 under the hood, though it will probably be beaten to the punch by Motorola’s tablet – the Honeycomb debutante is expected to launch this week at CES.More from Stuff.tv- CES 2011 – 10 of the best innovations- Introducing the 2011 CES Hot Stuff Awards- CES 2011 rumour round-up
