Although the 8MP camera creates a slight bulge in the otherwise skinny profile of Huawei’s Ascend P1 S, it might prove worth it. Like the iPhone 4S’s camera, the P1’s is 8MP of BSI (back illuminated sensor) joy, with 1080p video skills.

A fluoro-lit table in the corner of a busy press conference is no place to test a camera, but for what it’s worth, the Ascend P1 S’s snapper seems to produce bonnie results even in these less-than-ideal conditions. The cam’s got some neat tricks too, such as the ability to take five quick-fire shots of a group of people and allow you to automagically stitch together the best faces from each. Bet we can still ruin a group shot, mind.
