Canon has revealed the PowerShot G1 X and two new Ixus cameras – the Ixus 125 HS and Ixus 500 HS.

The PowerShot GX 1 serves up a large CMOS sensor which should result in less noise and sharp images even when the ISO is cranked up, which is an impressive feat given its dimensions in comparison to a DSLR. 4x optical zoom and full manual controls in addition to a pop-up flash, optical viewfinder and accessory hotshot round off the spec sheet rather nicely.

The PowerShot GX1 can be yours from late February, for the not-so-compact price of £700.

The 125 HS starts off the more wallet-friendly IXUS range and will arrive in a selection of brightly coloured hues. Its spec sheet consists of a 24mm 5x optical zoom, a 16.1MP sensor and Full HD video recording with image stabilisation.

The Ixus 500 HS features a 10.1MP sensor and 12x optical zoom and is also a member of the Full HD video recording club. Both models also have Canon's Digic 5 fast image processor for lightning-quick shutter snapping action.

The Ixus 125 HS will be available from late February for £230 while the Ixus 500 HS can be snapped up for £310 from early March.
