Canon primes slew of new compact digicams

So, the EOS 50D is a bit much camera to handle? Then Canon’s got a string of new compact digicams to sate your appetite for cheap gadgets packin

The new A–series snappers are the ones that have really caught our eye. The A1000 offers 10Mp, 4x optical zoom and a slimline frame for slipping in your pocket. The A2000 cranks things up a notch with 6x optical zoom.

If you’re after something a bit more dainty, then check out the E–series which, according to the truly awful guff in front of us is “designed by women for women.” We think this means it comes in pink. Still, it’s what’s on the inside that counts – namely a 10MP sensor and the same 4x optical zoom as the A1000.

And just to round things off nicely, Canon’s also releasing the SX110 IS, with high ISO, 9Mp, 20 shooting modes and 30fps video shooting.

All four snappers are due next month, but with Nikon and Sony firing out their own knock out compact offerings, expect competition for your hard–earned cash to be tough.
