Pentax Optio RZ18 super-zooming compact takes great cat photos

Pentax has released the new RZ18 super-zoom compact with a peeping tom-pleasing 18x optical zoom and dual shake reduction.

All packed into a compact housing, the RZ18's massive zoom range is equivalent to 25-450mm (35mm format) and the large 3in LCD screen on the back shows off images taken on its 16MP sensor.

Other handy features include burst shooting up to a super-speedy 9fps and 40 images and (to some, the best feature) an upgraded Pet mode for automatic detection of dog and cat faces. Because in the end, a photo is only as good as its potential for inclusion on lolcats.

It will be available for pet portrait duty in October in black, pearl white or metallic orange for £200.
