Palm's smartphones are finally going to catch up with the Sony Ericssons and Nokias of this world.
Starting early next year, the Treo 650 and future Palms will have support for BlackBerry push email. You'll still have to bugger about with VersaMail to read new messages, but you'll no longer need to use Palm's push software to fetch them.
The best thing is that - like the Nokia 9300 - the 650 has a proper QWERTY keypad instead of the two-letters-on-a-key layout of the BlackBerry 7100x series.
It's not clear yet whether the deal will extend to the first Windows Mobile-powered Treo [story here] but we reckon it's unlikely. Win Mob 5.0 has its own Microsoft-run push email offering.
