Welcome to our showcase of the hottest tech for 2008 – are you ready for the future?
Things have come full circle for mountain bikers. For the past few years they’ve been avoiding the chore of map navigation in favour of dedicated trail centres with waymarked routes and cafes.
Now, thanks to new products like the Satmap Active 10, they can get the same worry-free wilderness fun by downloading routes and being guided by their device.
Over 150 maps across the whole of Great Britain will be available for the Active 10 at launch, and the device has been built to take a battering with its waterproof and shockproof shell.
Next year will also see the launch of the top-of-the-range Garmin Edge 705, which sports a colour screen and lets you hook up an SRM meter to measure the watts output of your pins.
The result – finding routes nearer home, widespread tourism, geeks in the woods – is all good in our gadget book.
