Welcome to our showcase of the hottest tech for 2008 – are you ready for the future?
Perhaps not in Marvel’s highest echelon of superheroes, Iron Man is nevertheless on of the best-loved.
This live-action movie sees Robert Downey Jr take on the persona of Tony Stark, a flawed genius with addiction problems.
Ah, but of course Stark has an alter-ego – he’s also Iron Man, with a suit that gives him enormous strength, the gift of flight and repulsor rays.
Originally battling the clear-cut fight against Communists in the 60s, Iron Man has over the years had to cope with more complicated story lines.
He’s had his suit stolen by his best friend, been ripped off by the government, and had an alternative teenage version of him from another time line killed.
But this is familiar comic book territory and as he’s part of the second-coolest superhero team ever, The Avengers (the first is The Justice League, obv) we’ll forgive him.
It hits the cinemas on 2 May, followed by the Incredible Hulk’s latest outing, starring Edward Norton, on 20 June.
It looks like 2008 will be a summer of superheroes again.
