Welcome to our showcase of the hottest tech for 2008 – are you ready for the future?
Not even an impending meteor-strike apocalypse could distract Apple’s tech boffins from what we want from them next: 3G. Or HSDPA even.
Because we sometimes indulge in extra-urban activity that takes us miles from the nearest hotspot. Because we don’t just want that email attachment, we want it before the meeting. But, generally, because we want the best of everything.
And we’ve had a series of confirmations that it will happen during 2008. At the launch Steve Jobs did mention there would be a 3G version at some point, but that battery limitations prevented Apple from releasing one right there and then.
More recently, AT&T’s chief executive Randall Stephenson said ‘you’ll have it next year’ – don’t mince your words Randall, come on tell us straight.
A 3G iPhone is the obvious next step in the sexy cell and would go a way to explain the slow uptake of the device in Europe – everyone’s waiting for the addition of 3G.
Oh, and a 5MP camera and proper GPS wouldn’t go amiss…
