The BBC and Freesat have announced that the beta trial of iPlayer on Freesat is to be expanded to everyone, with the formal release of the code needed to access the service.
Originally only customers chosen for the beta could access the on demand service, but thanks to good feedback and a high demand, it’s been opened up for you all to have a go.
While iPlayer is available on the likes of Virgin Media TV, the trial is the first time the service has been offered through a TV subscription free.
Even better of course, is that ITV Player is also due to launch before the summer, giving you even more subscription-free TV catch up.
Apart from your Freesat box and of course a broadband connection, all you’ll need is code 5483 to get access.
To get to it, simply press your red button when you’re watching any BBC channel, type in the code and you’re away. Don’t worry if it says “Number Not Found” – it will load a few seconds later.
Final point – you’ll only be able to get it if you have a Freesat HD or Freesat+ box from Humax, but it’s expected to be expanded to more boxes in the coming months so hang in there.
