Asus outs "thin and light" U Series

Asus certainly doesn't seem to be resting on its laurels this year. We already told you about a MacBook Air rival set to launch at Computex next week,

The U Series range of laptops is based around the concept of being thin and light, and is made up of the U20, U50, UX50 and the U80.

The laptops will all feature LED backlit displays ranging from 12.1" to 15.6", with the UX50 adding just a touch more style with its frameless HD display.

The screens also boast light-in-motion technology that senses the brightness of your surroundings and adjusts the screen brightness automatically to suit.

They'll come packing 4GB RAM and up to 500GB HDD, and the U20 and UX50 models will boast the Intel Ultra Low Voltage processor for up to 12 hours battery life, apparently.

Other specs include HDMI output, Wi-fi conenctivity, Bluetooth 2.1, Altec Lansing stereo speakers and SRS surround sound.

Pricing has been confirmed for the U20 at £799, and £999 for the U50 and UX50. These three models will be available from the beginning of July, but we're still waiting on pricing and availability details for the U80.

We'll keep you updated with this and all the other Asus announcements in the pipeline, but in the meantime be sure to check out our Asus Seashell hands-on video
