First Impressions: Hydro Thunder Hurricane (Xbox 360)
It's summertime, so some water-based fun seems appropriate and that's exactly what Hydro Thunder Hurricane has to offer.
The game is an update of the late 1990s coin-op Hydro Thunder and like its predecessor it's a rollicking racer where futuristic jet-powered boats zoom across rivers, dive off cliffs and snake through tight tunnels.
It's fast, fun and not bad looking for a download-only game. It also stays true to its arcade roots by focusing on short, speedy action.
To mix things up there's a few twists on the basic racing format - such as dodging exploding barrels as you career around the course - and both online and split-screen multiplayer.
And just as with its arcade forefather, Hydro Thunder Hurricane is all about short bursts of hi-octane fun. It's not taxing, it's not deep - just instant thrills.
