Facebook Timeline gets new apps

Facebook has added sixty new sharing-based apps to Timeline to join the ranks of Spotify and Netflix. The newbies include film rankings site Rotten Tomatoes, travel reviews giant TripAdvisor and e-reading fun from Kobo.
Rounding off the roster of troops in Facebook's battle against personal privacy are Ticketmaster, travel app Gogobot, food apps Foodspotting and Foodily and lifestyle/ design offerings from Pinterest and Pose.
In the UK we'll also be treated to apps from Autotrader (complete with 'Want' button), art apps s(edition) and Artfinder, fashion app Lyst and music apps SoundCloud and Mixcloud.
Most of the apps are geared towards turning your Facebook Timeline into a kind of Tumblr-style blog where you add favourite items, recipes, books and destinations to your existing music and movie playlists.
If all this online curation makes you want to unplug every gadget in sight, not to worry as all the apps are optional – plus you can remove individual stories and choose which friends can see your Facebook app feeds. Right, now to trawl through the web looking for suitably obscure things to recommend to our mates.
