Gameloft's official Dark Knight Rises game is pricey but the gorgeous graphics do Gotham City proud. Plus you can play around with Batarangs and jump aboard the flying BAT, which makes its first appearance in the latest film. It's no Arkham City, admittedly – but for smartphone gaming, there are enough missions and familiar faces to keep Bat-fans happy.

We wouldn't rely entirely on Webr for our next website or blog – but you can create really basic webpages straight from your iPhone with a choice of themes and the ability to upload text and images. There are no ads and for now Webr is completely free.

If you're a fan of the very American, very positive TED videos app, these e-books (complete with audio and video) are ideal supplementary material, covering the big topics of each conferenc. The books themselves cost pennies but it's worth it for a fresh intro to a new subject.

With no long memberships – you can pay as you go with one week or one month options – this app is great for regular diners. It serves up discounts and 2-for-1s for thousands of resturants, saving you from faffing about on the computer at work downloading vouchers. We think our kitchen's about to get even dustier.

Metro has just revamped its iPhone app and it'll speed up your morning news digestion no end. 'Issues' download automatically if you subscribe for free via Newsstand and the app includes photography galleries, video and movie trailers.
