5 of the best PS Vita launch games – WipEout 2048
£30, playstation.com
The futuristic hovercraft racing game, a stalwart of previous PlayStation systems, returns for another outing on the Vita.
Yes, it's more of the same – but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Fling your arrow-shaped vehicle around the tracks (which, this being set before other WipEout games, more closely resemble modern-day cities), and blast your opponents with the selection of weapons.
And once you've learned all the racing lines and speed pad locations, you can play against your mates on their Vitas – or compete cross-platform with PS3-owning chums on WipEout HD.

Ok, got mine. So far so good. Awkward during the setup when it demanded an update to firmware to let me into PSN, but wouldn't let me do the update from there.
Also, the setup required me to confirm various facts about my PSN account, but didn't prompt me for them, it just came back with "PSN down for maintenence" when I tried to login. Not exactly smooth.
Once I'd got past this speed bump, I got online and downloaded a few if the free games. (Still waiting for my pre-order discount to be ratified, again, not exactly smooth).
The games are awsome. So far been playing Marvel vs Capcom and Cliff Diving (daft AR title), both lots of fun.
