Apple’s US iTunes gets HD movies

Apple’s iTunes store came over all hi-def this morning with the addition of a new HD movies section – though it’s only available in

The shiny new section offers a whopping total of fourteen blockbusters to both rent and buy, including Quantum of Solace and Saw V.

Disappointingly, it appears that the films are currently only being offered in 720p format rather than Full HD, which won’t please owners of wall-hogging plasmas.

And more annoying for us is that there’s no news of a UK release. You can currently download hi-def TV series’ like Lost and Heroes on the UK store, but it took them five months to migrate from the US iTunes.

That would make it August for HD movies over here – just in time for hi-def Watchmen, then.
