Apple's Steve Jobs slams app store rivals

In an statement released to celebrate the iTunes App Store's first birthday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs sent a message to its rivals: catch us if you can! J

Jobs said: "With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, its going to be very hard for others to catch up." That's his legendary modesty at work.

The release included two other eye popping stats: there are 65,000 apps in the iTunes App Store and 100,000 registered iPhone developers.

There's some truth to Jobs' boast. While LG's just joined the throng and Blackberry and Nokia are pushing their own stores heavily, the iTunes App Store remains top of the tree.
