Apple's previously reported media event in late January could see the introduction of the iTextbook – a vision that Steve Jobs revealed in his biography.
TechCrunch has reported that the January event may include details on iBooks and publishing, which sounds like the perfect platform to express Steve Jobs' desire to revamp the textbook.
Jobs told biographer Walter Isaacson that Apple could provide an opportunity to circumvent the state certification of textbooks, in order to save publishers money – and he even met with major publishers to discuss partnering with Apple.
A well-stocked catalogue of iTextbooks purchased through Apple's easy-to-use and familiar ecosystem will be welcome news for iPad-toting students, though we'll have to wait till later this month for all the details. Stay tuned.
