iOS 6 doing away with passwords for free app downloads

Score one for convenience! Apple will be modifying the security rules for app downloads in iOS 6, meaning that you won't need to key in your password every time you download or update a free app.

We've always found the constant password requests one of the more irritating aspects of app acquisition on iOS, so we're all for the change.

Paid apps will still require the password, which makes a lot more sense – it'll prevent someone grabbing your iPhone or iPad and running up a colossal bill on your iTunes App Store account.
