Why the iPad Mini should be your next tablet

22 Oct 2012

Apple is widely expected to 'fess up that it's been beavering away on a small scale replica of its iPad tablet in the extremely near future. When it does, the Apple naysayers will claim that it's a pointless ruse to take everyone's Christmas money. And while we'll agree that Santa's sled is likely to be positively laden with iPad Minis this Yule, we actually think it'll be for all the right reasons. These are them...

Apple iPad Mini – in the car

Driving with an iPad on your dashboard is impractical at best and downright lethal at worst. The much smaller iPad Mini should be a lot easier to mount, making it better for music and navigation on the go. Of course, finding your way anywhere with Apple Maps is a different story altogether.

Broken iPad

Apple iPad Mini – for kids

Do you find yourself constantly coming up with ways to keep expensive gadgets out of the ice cream-covered hands of your children? With an expected launch price starting from £250, the iPad Mini is less of a risk to butterfingered small people, as well as being better suited to their tiny hands.

iPad ebook

Apple iPad Mini – reading

According to a poll on our Facebook page, over half of you use your iPad for reading. We don't need to tell you, then, that it's a recipe for chronic wristache over a prolonged period. Unless the iPad Mini's been armoured and filled with lead, we'd bank on the smaller tablet being much less of a handful.

iPad gaming

Apple iPad Mini – game controller

Mobile games form a big part of the iPad experience but the current slate tablet is a little unwieldy. On-screen buttons can be hard to press with your thumbs and the weight of it can prove tiring over marathon gaming sessions. The iPad Mini would be much more suited to video games and as a controller for an Apple games console, Wii U style. What? It could happen.

Facetime

Apple iPad Mini – FaceTime video calls

FaceTime calls. Great for staying in touch, but where do you put the iPad? Holding is best, in our experience, and the iPad Mini's trim dimensions will make your video conference a deux a much less cumbersome experience.

iPad dock

Apple iPad Mini – docking

Docking an iPad always seemed, well, a bit strange. It looks out of place on most speaker docks, assuming they even accommodate its generous size. This shouldn't be a problem for the bite-sized iPad Mini, though, which should comfortably adorn all but the smallest accessories.

The massively pro-Apple bias of this site should be an embarassment to the staff - the fact that it isn't means every single review on site should be considered flawed.

my buddy's step-sister earned $19450 the previous month. she makes money on the computer and bought a $570200 house. All she did was get lucky and put to use the information revealed on this site >> AIM18.COM <<

i have to concur too (not with the imbecile who keeps spamming the site with moronic ads for work from home scams), this site tends to be WAY too apple friendly.

why is there no mention of the fact that apple was adamant in dismissing the smaller size of the excellent galaxy tab - and the other ones - when it came out in its 7" form?
at that point apple was laughing at the small size, claiming it was a joke.
now, it sounds like they invented it ... and there will be lines of drones outside the stores buying it!

i have nothing against apple (have 5 macs in my house/office), but i resent the adulation. they are NOT as great as they used to be years ago, before they decided to prioritize making tons of money marketing i-crap, instead of building great product (like they USED to).

The World according the Apple (and Stuff):
Google make a 10 inch Nexus (supposedly) - their copying Apple.
Apple make a 7 inch tablet - their so inventive.

I can see just because the iPad Mini will be 7.85 inches, it will so much better than any other tablet out there.

So disappointed with Stuff by writing this article, I though the biased iPhone 5 review was bad enough but this just takes the biscuit.

Being a proud owner of a Asus Transformer Infinity I would never go for or recommend anyone choosing an iPad. I don't hate Apple, the iPhone 4 and 5 are really nice but not the best in every way, especially price.

While by no means an Apple adoring fan, what they make still tends to be beautiful, easy to use albeit expensive items. Of course a Tech/lifestyle magazine will say good things! There is nothing any more Pro-Apple in this article than there was Pro-Google in the initial Nexus previews. Grow up people. You get to choose between Apple, Google, Asus or whoever so read a variety of opinions and then make yours. Simple :)
