Apple announces Safari 4 beta

Way back when, Safari was the browser of choice for web geeks and tech heads the world over. But now we're all addicted to the add–on delights of Fire

Cupertino clearly reckons it's cracked it though with Safari 4. The new version of the browser is now up for grabs over on Apple's official site. And the Mac types say it's their best ever.

Cover flow browsing through sites, full history search, a top sites feature that let's you see your favourite pages and 'tabs on top' are all new and good to go. On top of all that, Apple says it's three times faster than IE 7 and Firefox. We'll be the judge of that chaps.

The inclusion of HTML 5 is perhaps the biggest story though, meaning web–based apps can store info locally without a connection, making working offline easier than ever.

You can download it now at We're off to have a look, so keep tuned for our first thoughts soon.
