Acer Iconia AC100 gets August US launch

Acer's HTC Flyer-rival gets a launch date in the US. And about blimmin' time too

Acer’s already slapped a US$300 price tag on its 7in Iconia Tab A100, and while we initially thought it would arrive in April, it’s still yet to show its face in the UK. Three months and a few Honeycomb-related delays later and we’re finally one step closer to that official release date, which is being touted as ‘early August’ in the US. No word on a specific UK release date or pricing as of yet, but it will hopefully be rolled out in our neck of the woods shortly after.

Much like HTC’s Flyer, the A500’s younger sibling sports a Tegra 2 CPU, 512MB of RAM, 8GB built-in storage, Flash 10.1 support and a 1024×600 pixel screen. Considering the A500 was lacking that killer feature to make it a must-buy tablet, the A100 has its work cut out. But by going up against the similarly-specced Flyer and Dell Streak 7, the smaller version could well do a better job of making its mark.
