5.5-inch curved screen teased in leaked S6 Edge Plus photos

Samsung looks to be adding 0.4 inches of glass to its distinctive flagship

Samsung plans to follow up its groundbreaking Samsung S6 Edge with a phablet-sized version of the device, according to leaked renders released today.

The leak of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, as it is supposedly known, comes via the usually reliable Twitter source Steve Hemmerstoffer and his account @OnLeaks.

He posted the apparent dimensions, so if you implement a little bit of mathematics, you come out with what appears to be a 5.5-inch screen.

This contradicts previous reports that claimed the diagonal would measure 5.7-inches, a difference which could be make or break to phablet lovers; the existing Galaxy S6 Edge has a 5.1in display.

The plus-sized companion to Samsung’s flagship phone is almost identical in the renders, apart from the slight movement of the microphone on the bottom to the opposite side of the charging socket. It’s quite likely it’ll carry a Snapdragon 808 processor, as well as a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Samsung hasn’t given us any indication of when the new curved handset might arrive – if indeed it exists at all – but we think it’s quite likely that they’ll release it in September alongside the Galaxy Note 5. Some rumours, however, suggest that it might even arrive in the next few weeks.

We’ll stay on top of all the latest about it, so tune in to stuff.tv for the full information about specs and release dates as they appear.
