3view announces world's first internet connected Freeview HD box

3view has announced the world’s first internet connected Freeview HD set-top box in support of the Freeview HD roll out which started last week.

What this means is that as long as you’ve got a broadband connection in your home, and you’ll be able to enjoy internet video alongside your regular Freeview channels, both in HD and standard def.

There’s also individual apps for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, web-browsing capabilities, and you’ll be able to link up to your home PC to pull content such as pictures, movies and music to your TV.

Putting all this extra capabilities to one side for a second, the 3View box will of course act as a regular PVR with 320GB of storage for recording shows on to, the ability to pause and rewind live TV, and a dual tuner for watching one show while recording another.

Pricing is to be announced, but 3view is hoping the have its connected set-top box on shelves by March.
