Native Union Play video memo pad

If Guy Pearce had owned one of these in Memento, he could have saved himself a lot of time and ink…

Looking for a little relief from the floods of smart TVs, phones and tablets coming out of IFA?

The Play video memo pad is the antithesis of this age of convergence, phones, tablets and, er, tablones. It just does one thing – takes video notes. Look – it's shaped like a speech bubble!

It has a brief three minutes of recording time on its modest 256MB of memory, recording a single long, time stamped message, or lots of shorter ones on its 2.4in LCD screen. A magnetic back (plus magnetic wall tape) and hand strap give it plenty of mounting or storage options, and an LED message indicator is on hand to grab the attention of any potential message recipient.

It runs on a set of three AAA batteries and should last for 40 days on standby or give three hours of video playback/recording.

Coming in green, pink, blue, purple, red, white and black flavours, it'll be out in September from Native Union and Amazon for £49.99. We can see a game of time-delayed charades coming on...
