Meanwhile, several fresh faces will join the franchise, including Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings), Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows), Max von Sydow (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), and relative newcomer Daisy Ridley.

“It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again,” said director J.J. Abrams. “We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Star Wars: Episode VII opens the world over on 18 December 2015, and we’ll surely be inundated with additional details as filming gets underway next month.
