That means the screen is bigger than that of the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/iphone-5s/review">iPhone 5s</a>&nbsp;and almost matches the 4.7in display on the original <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/htc-one/review">HTC One</a>. But it&#39;s all about dimensions. Put simply, you can hold this comfortably in one hand, even if said hand is tinier than average.&nbsp;</p> <p>Build-wise, the Z3 Compact puts most Android smartphones to shame.&nbsp;Sure, the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/htc/htc-one-mini-2-hands/review">HTC One Mini 2</a> has a curved aluminium body but its insides don&#39;t exactly match its outsides. And most other scaled-down handsets stick to plastic, big bezels and telltale signs of corner cutting.&nbsp;</p> <p>Not so here.&nbsp;</p> <p>While Sony&#39;s decided to drop the metal frame from the Z3 Compact, it still looks and feels beautifully well made.&nbsp;The all-glass rear is present, as are the love-it-or-loathe-it aluminium power button and shallow volume rocker. The dedicated camera button returns and apart from a few minor tweaks - the LED flash has been moved slightly further away from the rear camera, for instance - this is the same shrunken down OmniBalance design we fell for in January. </p> <p>Like the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sony-xperia-z1-compact/review">Z1 Compact</a>&nbsp;it&#39;s waterproof, with the same newly improved dust resistance as the larger Z3 - that&#39;s IP65 and IP68 certified. But like the Z1 and Z2, neither Xperia sacrifices any style to practicalities.&nbsp;</p> <p>Plus, while we&#39;ve moaned in the past about the ergonomics of Sony&#39;s smartphone builds, this time round both the Z3 and Z3 Compact are easier to hold.&nbsp;Both get nylon caps on their corners (to help prevent smashes) and there are so many buttons, pogo pins and port flaps that there isn&#39;t much room for untouched edges to run your fingers along anyway.&nbsp;</p> <p>The bezels are still a little on the roomy side, but overall it&#39;s a big improvement over Z1 Compact, with Sony somehow managing to fit a 4.6in screen into a handset that&#39;s roughly the same size as its 4.3in predecessor. It&#39;s also much slimmer - 8.7mm rather than 9.5mm - which all adds up to it looking and feeling much classier. It&#39;s still not as light as an 112g&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/iphone-5s/review">iPhone 5s</a>&nbsp;but 127g is light enough for us.&nbsp; </p><p>And last but not least, to signify this as a fun, mass-market smartphone Sony is adding bold orange and green colour options to the existing black and white versions.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/galaxy-s5-mini/samsung-galaxy-s5-mini/review">Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini review</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="And I want my corners.. Two reasons. Sony reckons the human eye finds it hard to discern the extra pixels. And it wants to save us all from having to recharge at work and in bed by virtue of a claimed two-day battery life.&nbsp;</p> <p>The slight problem here is that by sticking with a 720p resolution while making its screen bigger, Sony has effectively reduced its sharpness. So while the old Z1 Compact&#39;s 1280x720 resolution on a 4.3in display equates to&nbsp;341ppi, when stretched across 4.6 inches that falls to 320ppi. Will that difference be noticeable? We&#39;ll have to wait until we get a review model back to Stuff Towers to answer that. </p> <p>What we can say already is that when we loaded up the same image on both the Z3 and Z3 Compact, we did spot some loss of detail on the smaller unit next to the full HD screen of the bigger model.&nbsp;</p> <p>Still, while full HD would have been lovely - and would have made it one of the sharpest phones on the planet - it&#39;s still bright, with natural but appealing colours. It&#39;s also slightly bigger than the 4.5in 720p screens on the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/htc/htc-one-mini-2-hands/review">One Mini 2</a> and Galaxy S5 Mini and if you like things punchy, you can turn on Sony&#39;s X-Reality for mobile tech to boost contrast and saturation.&nbsp;</p> <p>Sony&#39;s battery strategy for the Z3 Compact extends beyond giving it fewer pixels. As well as the extra efficiency that the fast and powerful Snapdragon 801 processor brings (the Z1 Compact ran on the 800), Sony has also worked to make the display more efficient. There&#39;s no name for the tech but Sony claims that the display retains a memory of the picture onscreen, so that it doesn&#39;t need to reload it over and over again.&nbsp;</p> <p>When we tested the<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sony-xperia-z1-compact/review"> Z1 Compact</a>&nbsp;we got a full day&#39;s use out of it.&nbsp;But Sony says that in its own tests both the Z3 and Z3 Compact make it through two days of normal usage versus 1.4 days for the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sony-xperia-z2-sirius/review">Xperia Z2</a>. The Z3 Compact has a bigger 2600mAh battery than that in the mini Z1 and in our brief play, the battery percentage on the Z3 Compact barely dropped. All of which bodes well, but we&#39;ll be putting Sony&#39;s claims to the test in our full review.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/iphone-6-what-it-needs-do-reclaim-top-spot/feature">What the iPhone 6 needs to do in order to reclaim top spot</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="The Z3 (top) and its smaller Compact sibling" alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Compact hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-compact-screen.png?1411011469" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Note: Using both phones together like this is a waste of money" alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Compact hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-compact-top.png?1411011469" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-2"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Camera Tweaks and Hi-res Audio </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>In many ways the Z3 Compact is identical to the Z3. For starters both get the aforementioned Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is clocked at 2.5GHz and which should make moving around homescreens, the web and menus as smooth as full-fat butter.</p> <p>Another thing they share is the camera. Now we&nbsp;didn&#39;t get much of a play with it during our hands-on time, so we&#39;ll save judgement for the full reviews. But the headlines are that it takes the superb 20.7MP sensor from the Xperia Z2, complete with&nbsp;excellent Superior Auto mode,&nbsp;and gives it a new 25mm wide-angle G lens, higher 12,800 ISO sensitivity and tweaked SteadyShot software.&nbsp;It also gets a few more social camera apps, the best being live YouTube broadcasting.&nbsp;</p> <p>In our brief experience,&nbsp;framing and AF are as fast as ever, while&nbsp;its ability to see in the dark looks especially promising.&nbsp;Frankly, we can&#39;t wait to pit it against whatever Cupertino is cooking up - with all the rumours at the moment pointing to a&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-iphone-6/review">4.7in iPhone 6</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p>Music is another area where it matches its bigger sibling. Xperias have long ranked alongside iDevices as our favourites for music playback, but the Z3 and Z3 Compact promise to take things up a level. Both get hi-res audio capabilities, if you can get hold of the right files, but even if you can&#39;t then they&#39;ll use Sony&#39;s own DSEE HX uprating tech to turn lowly MP3s into near hi-res audio tracks.</p> <p>Finally, there are no real differences between the handsets in terms of their Android skin. Both get the usual What&#39;s New widgets recommending content to consume and both also get the new Lifelog app - intended to work with new wearables such as the SmartWatch 3. However, this wasn&#39;t quite ready for our hands-on time with it. We&#39;ll hopefully have more on it very soon from the IFA 2014 showfloor.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE</strong>:<strong> <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/playstation-4/review">Long term test - Sony PS4</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="The Z3 Compact&#039;s skin is identical to that on the Z3" alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Compact hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-compact-homescreen.png?1411011469" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Best head down to your local hi-res audio store quick " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Compact hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-compact-audio-settings.png?1411011469" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-3"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Play PS4 games on your Z3 Compact </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Then there&#39;s the PlayStation connection. But there&#39;s also been a part of us that thinks mobile devices, designed to be held in the hand, need to be practical and human-friendly as well as beautiful.&nbsp;</p> <p>The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is just that - much easier to pick up, hold one-handed and generally get on with than actually say out loud. It&#39;s like the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-ipad-mini-2/review">7.9in iPad Mini </a>in that you&#39;ll use it in portrait mode of the time and though you can get one hand around, it makes more sense to rest the Tablet Compact in your palms, thumbs easily moving around the 8in touchscreen.&nbsp;</p> <p>The all-metal frame is gone, just stainless steel corners, but it&#39;s now rounded and there&#39;s still tempered glass on the front. It&#39;s as ludicrously skinny as the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/sony-xperia-z2-tablet/review">Xperia Z2 Tablet</a> at 6.4mm but somehow in this smaller, supremely portable size, it works. On the larger tablet it meant that the tab flexed worryingly in the middle and wasn&#39;t very satisfying to hold. Here it adds to the sleek build and handbag/big pocket-friendly dimensions.&nbsp;</p> <p>Because it doesn&#39;t look like a scaled-down Z2 Tablet. The huge bezels all around that slate have gone, transforming it somewhat and if anything this looks like Sony&#39;s take on a <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-84/review">Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4</a>. At 270g - nearly 30g less than the still-plasticky Samsung - it&#39;s a great move for Xperia tablets.&nbsp;</p> <p>With the same IP65 and IP68 water and dust resistance ratings as its smartphone siblings, the Z3 Tablet Compact will also make a great cooking or even bath time companion. The Galaxy S5 might be waterproof but the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-84/review">Tab S</a>&nbsp;sure isn&#39;t.</p> <p>If you&#39;re planning to dunk it (in up to 1.5m of water for half an hour) just make sure all those flaps covering ports like the microUSB are closed. Or floods of your tears will soon be joining all that water.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE</strong>: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/sony-xperia-z2-tablet/review">Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet review&nbsp;</a></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="The Tablet Compact gets PS4 Remote Play too " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-tablet-dualshock-4.png?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Familiar Sony flaps mean one thing - waterproofing " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-tablet-ports-1.png?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="Xperia by numbers - the prominent power button is present and correct " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-tablet-power-button.png?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-title"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact tech specs </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-body-text"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Body Text:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><strong>Screen</strong>: 8in 1920x1200 TFT<br /><strong>Processor</strong>: 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801&nbsp;<br /><strong>RAM</strong>: 3GB&nbsp;<br /><strong>OS</strong>: Android 4.4 KitKat&nbsp;<br /><strong>Camera</strong>: 8.1MP rear, 1080p video; 2.3MP front, 1080p video<br /><strong>Storage</strong>: 16GB (+ microSD up to 128GB)&nbsp;<br /><strong>Battery</strong>: 4500mAh (19 hours talktime, 15 hours video playback - claimed)&nbsp;<br /><strong>Connectivity</strong>: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G/4G (with nanoSIM), NFC&nbsp;<br /><strong>Dimensions</strong>: 213.4 x 123.6 x 6.4mm<br /><strong>Weight</strong>: 270g&nbsp;</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 2K isn&#039;t everything </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The Sony Xperia Z3 isn&#39;t bowing to pixel pressure by going 2K and neither is the Z3 Tablet Compact.&nbsp;</p> <p>Unlike Samsung with its <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-84/review">super sharp 2560x1600 Tab S 8.4</a>&nbsp;and Apple with its Retina display-rocking 2048x1536<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-84/review"> iPad Mini</a>, Sony is sticking at Full HD. And at first glance, we&#39;re not terribly annoyed.&nbsp;</p> <p>The Full HD <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/sony-xperia-z2-tablet/review">Z2 Tablet </a>is a monster movie tablet, in part thanks to Sony&#39;s TV tech such as Triluminous for mobile and - to a lesser extent - X-Reality for mobile which pumps up contrast and saturation. And the Z3 Tablet Compact is just as capable at displaying pure whites and vibrant colours. Samsung keeps its edge for deep blacks thanks to its use of SuperAMOLED screens but this screen is just as brilliant as we&#39;ve seen on past Xperias. It&#39;s bright too, holding up well in direct sunlight.&nbsp;</p> <p>That said, the Samsung does have its advantages. Loading up Stuff magazine in Samsung&#39;s new Papergarden store on the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-84/review">Tab S</a> shows just how crisp text looks. Opening up Stuff.tv on the Z3 Tablet Compact and zooming out on a full screen of (lower res) text in an epic review shows that, while we agree 2K can be overkill, sometimes extra pixels help.&nbsp;</p> <p>It might not be futureproof but for now, the Z3 Tablet Compact shouldn&#39;t be too ashamed of its resolution.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE</strong>: <strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-84/review">Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4&nbsp;</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="A set of stunning screens from Sony - with the Z3 " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-tablet-with-phone.png?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Bright and vivid even in direct sunlight " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-tablet-umbrellas.png?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-2"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> The only tablet that can play PS4 games </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>We didn&#39;t think a small Android tablet could really trouble the<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-ipad-mini-2/review"> iPad Mini</a> without a miracle but here it is. PS4 owners, listen up. You can now play PS4 games on the Z3 Tablet Compact - as well as the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. It&#39;s the same in-home game streaming tech found on the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/pch-2000/playstation-vita-slim/review">PS Vita</a> and the Z3 Tablet Compact makes a tidy set-up with Sony&#39;s mount and a DualShock 4 controller. We haven&#39;t had a play yet but stick to Stuff.tv for our first impressions.&nbsp;</p> <p>That&#39;s the biggest news but Sony really doesn&#39;t put a foot wrong anywhere. With the same largely fuss-free Android skin that we&#39;ve come to expect from Sony and a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor plus 3GB of RAM under the hood, it&#39;s no suprise that the Z3 Tablet Compact ran <em>sans</em> stutter during our hands on time with it. We&#39;re sure it will be a hoot 24/7 but we&#39;ll put it through the full streaming, multi-tasking and gaming paces when we get a final review unit.&nbsp;</p> <p>There&#39;s a pair of decent 8MP and 2.3MP cameras front and rear which both shoot 1080p video in case you need them. The Tablet Compact is treated to the same hi-res audio, uprating and digital noise cancelling (with Sony headphones) as the Xperia Z3 smartphone too.</p> <p>And there&#39;s a fairly beefy 4500mAh battery inside to keep all that ticking over. Sure, the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-84/review">Tab S 8.4 </a>has a bigger 4900mAh unit but that has hundreds more pixels to push. Sony reckons the Tablet Compact will last an impressive 15 hours of video playback. That would be a compact all-day tablet to be reckoned with if it stands up.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/playstation-4/review">Long term PS4 review&nbsp;</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Sony&#039;s Android skin hasn&#039;t changed in a while " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-tablet-whats-new.png?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="The back of the Tablet Compact is lovely to stroke " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-tablet-rear_0.png?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="Nvidia&#039;s Shield weeps quietly in the corner " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Xperia_Z3%20Tablet%20Compact_PS4_Black.jpg?1409798632" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-3"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Initial verdict </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Convincing people they need an Android tablet - let alone a premium one - is no easy task.&nbsp;</p> <p>But the Z3 Tablet Compact is a lovely thing. Available in Classic Black or Sport Lime, the watch core actually pops out of the silicon strap, also in pink and white. It&#39;s not designed to do this everyday (two of the prototypes we saw had broken home buttons) more that if you fancy a change after a few months, it can be done. The strap itself has a clasp to keep it in place and though we prefer a standard watch strap as on the G Watch, that&#39;s down to personal preference and it does at least feel secure.&nbsp;</p> <p>This is a big watch with a 1.6in screen and a fair amount of bezel. Essentially if you&#39;re moving from a chunky, colourful Swatch it&#39;ll be an easier transition than from your fancy Breitling.&nbsp;</p> <p>There&#39;s plenty to love, though. Elsewhere, the SmartWatch 3 is the first Android Wear device with GPS. Completing the killer combo is 4GB of on-board storage and a standalone Walkman app so that the SmartWatch 3 can be paired with Bluetooth headphones to track runs and provide tunes without a smartphone.</p> <p>Neither was ready for our early play and compatibility with third party fitness apps hasn&#39;t been confirmed yet but Sony will hopefully give us more details during IFA. With a price of &euro;229 (no MY price yet), that looks like a very good deal - a TomTom Runner Cardio, for instance, costs &pound;220 (RM1155) and won&#39;t even tell you the weather.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong>&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/samsung/samsung-gear-live/review">Samsung Gear Live smartwatch review&nbsp;</a></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="If lime green or candy pink don&#039;t work out, there&#039;s always black " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-open-on-phone_0.jpg?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="Clasptastic SmartWatch 3 " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-clasp.jpg?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-title"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Sony SmartWatch 3 tech specs </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-body-text"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Body Text:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><strong>Screen</strong>: 1.6in 320x320 TFT LCD touchscreen<br /><strong>Processor</strong>: 1.2GHz quad-core ARM A7<br /><strong>RAM</strong>: 512MB &nbsp;<br /><strong>OS</strong>: Android Wear&nbsp;<br /><strong>Battery</strong>: 420mAh (claimed 2 days)&nbsp;<br /><strong>Storage</strong>: 4GB&nbsp;<br /><strong>Water &amp; Dust Resistance</strong>: IP68&nbsp;<br /><strong>Connectivity</strong>: Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC&nbsp;<br /><strong>Compatibility</strong>: Android 4.3+&nbsp;<br /><strong>Dimensions</strong>: 36 x 10 x 51mm<br /><strong>Weight:</strong> 38g (Classic), 35.7g (Sport)&nbsp;<br /><strong>Colours:</strong> Classic (Black) and Sport (Lime), straps avaialble in white and pink</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> No Cradle Needed </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>It says a lot about the competition when we get all flustered over a microUSB port.&nbsp;After months of losing and finding the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/moto-360/motorola-moto-360/review">G Watch</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/samsung/samsung-gear-live/review">Gear Live&#39;s</a>&nbsp;charging cradles, no wonder we got a bit giddy when we saw that the SmartWatch 3 had kept at least one feature of its predecessor, the otherwise&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/smartwatch/sony-smartwatch-2/review">frustrating SmartWatch 2</a>.</p> <p>It&#39;s the first Android Wear watch that you can just stick your smartphone&#39;s microUSB cable in. But every half day counts when it comes to smartwatch batteries.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/pebble/pebble-steel/review">Pebble Steel smartwatch review&nbsp;</a></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="So simple LG and Samsung " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-microusb.png?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Fairly big bezels and the pink strap colourway " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-pink-install.jpg?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="Would you want this strapped to your body? As with other Android Wear devices, there&#39;s two big functions. The watchface, to show the time, which can be swapped for other designs. And notifications which come through from your smartphone via Bluetooth - phone calls, texts, emails, social media alerts. Anything that appears in your notifications pulldown or as a banner on your Android (4.3+) shows up on the SmartWatch 3&#39;s screen. Plus Google Now&#39;s genius calendar, search and location based updates when it thinks you need them.</p> <p>We got to see Facebook and weather alerts in action during our hands on but this is familiar stuff to anyone who has used an <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/lg/lg-g-watch/review">LG G Watch</a> or <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/samsung/samsung-gear-live/review">Samsung Gear Live</a>. For more details on what Android Wear watches&nbsp;can do, head to our <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/google/android-wear/review">in-depth review of the OS</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p>Sony has tweaked Android Wear more than most. As well as the Walkman app, it also adds its Lifelog app, TV Sideview and a remote camera app. Lifelog is designed to let you track the usual fitness metrics - steps, distance, calories - alongside entertainment and media info. What movies you&#39;ve watched, music you&#39;ve listened to, games you&#39;ve played or places you&#39;ve been. These appear on a timeline which will sync across to your Xperia Z3.</p> <p>Is Sony gunning to beat Facebook at its own lifelogging game? Its ambitions are probably smaller than that but we&#39;ll be keeping an eye on Lifelog to see what Sony does with all that data. &nbsp;</p> <p>TV Sideview is an app borrowed from Xperia phones that lets you see what&#39;s on the box on the SmartWatch 3 with wrist-based remote controls too. And the remote camera app will work with Xperia phones and accessories like <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-qx10/review">Sony&#39;s QX10 lens</a>.</p> <p>So Android Wear is up for grabs, after all, but Sony&#39;s done well to keep its tinkering to a minimum. The growing number of third party apps can take care of the rest.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE</strong>: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/google/android-wear/review">Android Wear OS review&nbsp;</a></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Go on, shackle yourself to those Facebook (t)wits " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-facebook.jpg?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Classic watchface x date = smartwatch win " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-clockface.jpg?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="Standard Android Wear settings " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-settings.png?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-4"> <div class="field-label">Image #4:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_4" width="1200" height="900" title="Sporty SmartWatch with a sleek Xperia Z3 " alt="Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sw3-with-phone.jpg?1409793309" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-3"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> SmartBand Talk </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The SmartBand Talk, Sony&#39;s&nbsp;&euro;159 wearable e-paper screen on a silicon strap, is a curious beast.</p> <p>It&#39;s not as stylish as a <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/jawbone/jawbone-up24/review">Jawbone UP </a>or as shiny and futuristic as a <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/samsung-gear-fit/review">Samsung Gear Fit</a>. But then again it&#39;s not as cheap as some of the other basic smartbands it resembles - like the incoming &pound;80 (RM420)&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/acer/acer-liquid-leap-smartband-hands/news">Acer Liquid Leap</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p>With a 288x128 e-paper screen that&#39;s non touch and an odd mix of features it&#39;s stuck somewhere in the middle. The altimeter is great as that means the SmartBand can track when you&#39;re going up stairs as well as the usual steps and distance to add to your Lifelog. Auto sleep detect is a nice addition too as on Sony&#39;s <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/mwc-2014/hands-sonys-life-logging-smartband-swr10-fitness-band/feature">first SmartBand</a> this mode had to be activated by a button press. IP68 dust and waterproofing is another plus.&nbsp;</p> <p>And it can talk. Well, you can talk to it. The SmartBand can handle calls, with a mic, speaker, HD Voice tech and a dash of Dick Tracey.&nbsp;</p> <p>But there&#39;s no standalone GPS like the SmartWatch 3. The 70mAh battery will last three days of normal usage, according to Sony, which isn&#39;t really good enough considering the screen. And in our hands on time with the admittedly unfinished software, it looked slow and very, very basic indeed. </p> <p>We&#39;re willing to have our minds changed when we test the final device. But despite that it&#39;s not long for this world.</p> <p>As it did last year with the Xperia Z and Z1, Sony is replacing its flagship just six months later. That&#39;s bad news for Z2 owners but great news for anyone who held out while the HTC One (M8), LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 have come and gone.&nbsp;</p> <fieldset class="fieldgroup group-pricing"><legend>Pricing</legend><div class="field field-type-number-float field-field-test-price"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> RM-1.00 </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-price-from"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 0 </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="fieldgroup group-ratings"><legend>Ratings</legend><div class="field field-type-hcmreviewrating-rating field-field-overall-rating"> <div class="field-label">Overall rating:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="hcmrating-default"> stars</div> </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>Review Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Design - why didn&#039;t the Z2 look like this? </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Answer: it did. Sort of. At first glance - and in press shots - it looks like a case of &quot;spot the difference&quot; between the Z3 and Z2.&nbsp;</p> <p>But the tweaks that Sony has made really do make an incredible difference. The difference between &quot;I know it&#39;s well-specced and well-built but I just don&#39;t love it&quot; and &quot;I need one right now&quot;. You need to get one in your hand to really appreciate it.&nbsp;</p> <p>The aluminium and tempered glass OmniBalance design now has rounded sides and, while it&#39;s still an angular body and won&#39;t sit completely snug in the palm like a One (M8), it&#39;s enough to make it much more comfortable. It&#39;s a compromise - Sony want OmniBalance to be iconic the way a BMW or Mercedes design is - but it&#39;s a compromise that allows for the contours of human hands while keeping the year-and-a-bit old Xperia aesthetic.&nbsp;</p> <p>It also helps massively that the Xperia Z3 weighs 152g, that&#39;s 11g lighter than the Z2 and probably achieved by the smaller battery. It&#39;s also ever so slightly smaller in both dimensions and skinnier than the Z2 at 7.3mm thick, all of which makes it feel less like a heavy block and more like the sleek wonder-phone it really is.&nbsp;</p> <p>With all that glass you might be fretting about smashing it but Sony has added new nylon caps to the corners. Apparently handsets are most likely to be dropped on corners so replacing the old aluminium is designed to make the Z3 more durable. We thought it best not to drop the Z3 within minutes of meeting it but we can say that the new corners don&#39;t ruin the design - in fact, we rather like them.&nbsp;</p> <p>A big advantage of the OmniBalance design is that it&rsquo;s water- and dust-proof, so the Z3 is capable of withstanding anything the weather can throw at it &ndash; as well as enabling you to make calls from the shower and watch Netflix in your Jacuzzi. The new IP65/68 rating is the highest waterproofing you can get on a smartphone right now (surviving up to 30 minutes in up to 1.5m of water) and a new higher dust resistance too.&nbsp;</p> <p>We managed to play around with a few Z3s with the white model being our favourite - it&#39;s less reflecty than the black model. There&#39;s also two new colours in the form of copper and silver green. Hey, at least it&#39;s not&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/htc/how-ruin-best-looking-phone-world-step-1-pink/news">pink</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE</strong>:&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/htc/htc-one-2/review">HTC One (M8) reviewed&nbsp;</a></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="Clean lines, lush materials - only the iPhone and HTC match this " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sony-z3-back_1_1.jpg?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="280" height="210" title="Slim and solid but still pretty droppable " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-side-view_1.jpg?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="280" height="210" title="Water, dust and fuzzproof - kind of " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-top-jack_1.jpg?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-4"> <div class="field-label">Image #4:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_4" width="280" height="210" title="A lovely new curved frame - music to our eyes and fingers " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sony-z3-sim-slot_1.png?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-title"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Sony Xperia Z3 tech specs </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-body-text"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Body Text:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><strong>Screen</strong>: 5.2in 1920x1080 (424ppi)&nbsp;<br /><strong>Processor</strong>: 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core&nbsp;<br /><strong>RAM</strong>: 3GB<br /><strong>OS</strong>: Android 4.4 KitKat&nbsp;<br /><strong>Storage:</strong>&nbsp;16GB/32GB (+microSD)&nbsp;<br /><strong>Battery:</strong>&nbsp;3100mAh<br /><strong>Camera</strong>: 20.7MP, 1080p/4K video rear, 2.2MP front, 1080p video<br /><strong>Connectivity</strong>: Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC&nbsp;<br /><strong>Dimensions</strong>: 146 x 72 x 7.3mm<br /><strong>Weight</strong>: 152g</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Brighter screen </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>When the Xperia Z2&#39;s screen is one of the best we&#39;ve ever laid eyes on, we&#39;re not going to complain when Sony leaves it alone.&nbsp;</p> <p>And that&#39;s what it&#39;s done. It&#39;s 20% brighter than the Z2&#39;s screen, now 600 candela, which means it&#39;s easier to make out in direct sunlight. We haven&#39;t tested it side by side with the blindingly bright Galaxy S5 yet but we&#39;re sure it will match it for outdoors use.&nbsp;</p> <p>Apart from that, it&#39;s the same sharp, punchy 5.2in Full HD screen we saw - and loved - on the Xperia Z2. A quick scroll through Sony&#39;s preloaded hi-res snaps shows that blacks don&#39;t look quite as inky as we&#39;ve seen on the Galaxy S5. But for more vibrant colours and higher contrast, there&#39;s always the X-Reality engine setting to play with.&nbsp;</p> <p>Why not 2K? It sounds like Sony isn&#39;t planning to put a 2K screen on a 5in smartphone anytime soon. Or even its 8in Z3 Tablet Compact. It says it&#39;s too hard for the human eye to discern the difference. Now, if you&#39;ve got eyes like Stuff&#39;s trained pixel hunters then you can see more detail in video, images and ebooks on 2K screens than regular 1080p ones. But that&#39;s side by side with exactly the same high def content. For most people, we agree with Sony that a 424ppi display is plenty of pixels for your peepers to compute.&nbsp;</p> <p>As we&#39;ve seen with the 2K LG G3 and the Oppo Find 7 and 7a, there is a trade-off between resolution and battery life too. Rather than gamble on 2K and fewer hours between charges, Sony&#39;s gone and upped the battery life on the Z3.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong>&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/g3/lg-g3/review">LG G3 - Stuff&#39;s no.1 smartphone - reviewed</a></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="Live Colour LED/ Triluminous/ X-Reality. No surprise then that Sony claims both smartphones will last two days of &#39;regular use&#39;.&nbsp;</p> <p>Skeptical? So were we. There&#39;s a smaller 3100mAh battery (versus the Z2&#39;s 3200mAh unit) for starters. A brighter screen too. And Sony reckons the Z3 will last two days when the Z2 lasts 1.4 and the Z1 lasts 1.2 days?&nbsp;</p> <p>Sony puts the extra efficiency down to two things - the Snapdragon 801 processor, here clocked at 2.5GHz but also present in the Xperia Z2. And a new screen technology that it&#39;s developed which retains the memory of whatever is on the screen meaning less reloading and more efficiency. It doesn&#39;t have a catchy name like Sony&#39;s other screen technologies but we looking forward to putting the Z3 through its paces. The only true two day flagship we&#39;ve tested is last year&#39;s brilliant LG G2 - if it can match that (which the G3 doesn&#39;t) we&#39;ll be very, very impressed.&nbsp;</p> <p>Nosing around the settings, Stamina mode returns with a Samsung and HTC-style monochrome-screened, ultra power saving mode absent. Though it&#39;s worth noting that the above test times are without Stamina turned on. Any bets on how long we can get a Z3 to last for with this turned on? 2.7 days anyone?&nbsp;</p> <p>As for performance, we didn&#39;t see a single stutter in our short time moving around homescreens, browsers and galleries. There&#39;s no real lag on the Xperia Z2 so this isn&#39;t a surprise and the Z3 is clocked slightly higher with a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM.&nbsp;</p> <p>That stocking-smooth experience is of course helped by Android 4.4 KitKat which, again, isn&#39;t too heavily trussed up by Sony. Its recommendation widgets remain as do the Walkman app and Movies and Music services plus you can make the most of the 5.2in screen with floating &#39;small app&#39; windows. Expect to see more of Sony&#39;s cross-platform lifelogging app er, Lifelog, too as it debuts on its new Android Wear device the SmartWatch 3. Overall, it&#39;s a lean Android skin that doesn&#39;t get too annoying.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE</strong>:&nbsp;<strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/galaxy-s5/samsung-galaxy-s5/review">Samsung Galaxy S5 review&nbsp;</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="No monochrome shut-down shenanigans here just a brilliant Stamina mode " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sony-z3-battery-1_1.png?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="280" height="210" title="That 67% should last well over a day - huzzah" alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sony-z3-corner-straight_1.jpg?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-3"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Camera: stop me if you&#039;ve heard this before </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>When the Xperia Z2&#39;s 20.7MP camera was one of the best we&#39;ve seen on a smartphone..&nbsp;</p> <p>No, really. All that Sony needed to do was make the best better and it&#39;s done so with choice tweaks. There&#39;s a new 25mm G lens for wide angle shots and improved SteadyShot for video. The idea is to put an end to shaky footage so you can compete with Hyperlapsers on iOS for smooth video when moving about - it worked well when we demo&#39;d it by running with the Z3 versus wobble-tastic standard video.&nbsp;</p> <p>Its main focus though is making the Xperia Z3 the low-light photography king as the sensor now has light sensitivity up to IS0 12800. By comparison most phones will go up to ISO 800 or so before giving up.</p> <p>We had a quick &#39;go&#39; of taking a picture by pointing the Z3&#39;s lens into a completely closed off, dark box in Low Light mode and the results were pretty jaw-dropping. This Xperia&#39;s been eating its carrots.&nbsp;</p> <p>Now, as with the Z2 there are some caveats and you do need to learn your way around Sony&#39;s camera app to get the best out of it. For instance, in manual mode you get maximum ISO of 3200 and for video its 2000. Just as certain resolutions - such as 20.7MP - are only available in manual mode. It&#39;s one to spend some time with but once you do the images are mind-blowing.&nbsp;</p> <p>Superior Auto mode is still there and is still brilliant but until we get a final device in to test, we&#39;d be surprised if the<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/g3/lg-g3/review">&nbsp;LG G3</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/iphone-5s/review">iPhone 5s</a>&nbsp;don&#39;t stay on top for point and shoot photos as sometimes the<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sony-xperia-z2/review">&nbsp;Xperia Z2</a>&nbsp;just doesn&#39;t quite get the shot every time.&nbsp;</p> <p>To fill out the features sheet, Sony has thrown in some more of its hit and miss social camera apps. The best of these is the blogger-friendly live broadcasting to YouTube feature, following on from live broadcasting to Facebook in past Xperia phones. But there&#39;s also Face In to add a selfie bubble to shots, AR fun which gives you more effects to layer onto pics and Multi Camera which lets you combine up to three smartphones or accessories (like the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-qx10/review">QX10 lens</a>) to stitch together different angles of one scene.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong>&nbsp;<strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sony-xperia-z2/review">See full resolution sample pics taken with the Xperia Z2 in our review&nbsp;</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="Live YouTube broadcasting, nice " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sony-z3-camera-1_1.jpg?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="280" height="210" title="Superior Auto mode will save the day " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/z3-camera-2_1.jpg?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-4"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Audiophiles, listen up </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>LG got there first with hi-res audio but Sony will no doubt own it.&nbsp;</p> <p>That&#39;s because Xperia smartphones have been our favourite Androids for sound quality when listening to decent quality tracks for a while now, even given the iPhone a run for its money as a music player. So the addition of hi-res audio capabilities makes perfect sense. Sure, there&#39;s not a whole lot of places to get the files but once you do, you&#39;re laughing.&nbsp;</p> <p>Sony&#39;s also pushing its own DSEE HX engine promising to uprate your lower quality MP3s to near high resolution, focusing on the higher frequencies - this is available as a setting when listening through the Walkman app. We&#39;ll give this a closer listen very soon but we&#39;re generally cautious when it comes to tech that magically improves the quality of files - as we are with upscaling to 4K.&nbsp;</p> <p>The front-facing stereo speakers sound OK but won&#39;t trouble the One (M8) on a first listen. There&#39;s always Sony headphones to take advantage of the Z3&#39;s digital noise cancelling - you don&#39;t hear the hum of the aeroplane and you don&#39;t need to charge your &#39;phones. Stay tuned throughout the IFA show, though, as we&#39;re making a beeline for a second play as we type.&nbsp;</p> <p>Because it&#39;s a genuinely exciting feature borrowed, of all places, from the much underhyped PS Vita. It allows Z3 smartphones and tablets to play real PS4 games over Wi-Fi when your PS4 console is turned on or on standby. You play using a DualShock 4 controller which can be used with a mount or alternatively you can prop the Xperia Z3 or 8in Z3 Tablet Compact up to see the screen.&nbsp;</p> <p>It&#39;s best over your home Wi-Fi network - the example Sony gives is if your kids want to watch something on the telly, you can continue playing upstairs on the Z3. But Sony also says it is possible to connect to another Wi-Fi network outside your house though there&#39;s no guarantee of the experience.&nbsp;</p> <p>The feature may come to other Xperias like the Z2 and Z2 Tablet but unsurprisingly Sony has zero plans to extend Remote Play outside the Xperia family. Quite right too as finally Sony&#39;s promise of a real ecosystem is coming together with Exmor sensors in smartphones, NFC in 160 of its products and now this brilliant PS4/Xperia mash-up.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong>&nbsp;<strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/playstation-4/review">Long term test - PS4 review&nbsp;</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="The gaming mount for DualShock 4 will be sold separately " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/sony-xperia-z3_1.png?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="280" height="210" title="You can also play PS4 titles on the Z3 Tablet Compact " alt="Sony Xperia Z3 hands on review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Xperia_Z3%20Tablet%20Compact_PS4_Black_0_1.jpg?1410829251" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-6"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Initial Verdict </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Sleeker, sexier and more capable than any Xperia flagship to date, the Z3 might be the smartphone that proves Sony&#39;s formula.&nbsp;</p> <p>OK it can&#39;t continue pumping out an iteration of its best smartphone every six months but Sony itself admits this won&#39;t be forever. While the Z1 version was no slouch, the extra power should make the Z3 Compact as slick as an oiled-up weasel. It also compares favourably to its obvious mini-phone rivals, the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/galaxy-s5-mini/samsung-galaxy-s5-mini/review">Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini</a> and <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/htc/htc-one-mini-2-hands/review">HTC One Mini 2</a>, which run on a 1.4GHz Exynos 3 and 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor respectively.</p> <p>Despite the bigger screen and more powerful brain, the Z3 Compact should still have impressive battery life. In fact, according to Sony it will last for two full days, a claim we&#39;ll have to take with a pinch of salt for now. That said, we got a good day&#39;s use from the Z1 Compact, so here&#39;s hoping Sony has worked its magic again here.</p> <p>One possible reason for that stellar battery life is that&nbsp;the phone doesn&#39;t get a resolution boost to go with its bump in screen size; like the Z1 Compact, it will pack a 720p display. This might disappoint some fans, but while the big flagship phones now all have 1080p screens - and the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/g3/lg-g3/review">LG G3</a> trumps that with a 2K display - none of its mini rivals can beat it on this front. Well, until the iPhone 6 arrives at least.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/smartphones/top-ten">The 10 best smartphones in the world right now</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="The Z3 Compact (right) and its 5.2in sibling the Xperia Z3" alt="Sony launches Xperia Z3 Compact to do battle with iPhone 6" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Xperia-Z3-and-Xperia-Z3-Compact.jpg?1409928811" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> SAY CHEESE </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Also like the Z3, the new Compact gets the 20.7MP camera that we saw - and loved - on the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sony-xperia-z2-sirius/review">Xperia Z2</a>, but with a few significant additions.</p> <p>Chief among these is a new higher ISO sensitivity: it can now shoot up to a DSLR-bothering ISO 12,800, which should make for some impressive low-light skills. It also has a new lens, in the form of a wide-angle 25mm G lens, plus enhanced SteadyShot software and a few new photography apps.</p> <p>Other new abilities include the PS4 Remote Play feature - so you can stream your favourite PlayStation games from your console to your phone while you&#39;re in the bath - and hi-res audio capabilities. And not only will the Z3 Compact be able to play all of those 24-bit, 192kHz files you&#39;ve been avidly downloading for years, but it&#39;ll even upscale bog-standard MP3s for hi-res-like sound.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/why-you-should-be-pumped-about-and-just-bit-sceptical-hi-res-audio/feature">Why you should be pumped about (and just a bit sceptical of) hi-res audio</a></strong></p> <p>The Z3 Compact isn&#39;t entirely without compromises though. While it does still have a glass back, the metal sides of the Z3 are missing here, replaced instead by a plastic frame. That does at least help keep it light, though, and as with all recent Xperia &#39;Z&#39; phones it&#39;s waterproof and dustproof to IP65 and IP68 standards.</p> <p>There&#39;s no word yet on how much the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will cost or when it will be available, but keep your eyes glued to Stuff&#39;s <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/galaxy-note-4/ifa-2014/ifa-2014-what-expect-europes-biggest-tech-show/news">IFA 2014</a> coverage for all of the latest news.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/galaxy-note-4/ifa-2014/ifa-2014-what-expect-europes-biggest-tech-show/news">All the big stories from IFA 2014</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/ifa-2014/ifa-2014-sony-xperia-z3-compact-will-give-iphone-6-run-its-money/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/ifa-2014/ifa-2014-sony-xperia-z3-compact-will-give-iphone-6-run-its-money/news#comments IFA 2014 Smartphones Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Wed, 03 Sep 2014 14:46:24 +0000 Hafizah Osman 1446469 at http://www.stuff.tv IFA 2014: Play PS4 games in the bath with the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/ifa-2014/ifa-2014-play-ps4-games-bath-sony-xperia-z3-tablet-compact/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Sony&#039;s super-light slate is dinky, waterproof, and streams next-gen games over Remote Play </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact" alt="Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/sony-xperia-z3-tablet-compact-01.jpg?1409759343" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>Sony&#39;s latest tablet has wafted into IFA 2014 &ndash; a slimline 8in slab whose 270g weight barely registers in your hand.</p> <p>It may not look like a gaming powerhouse, but it&#39;ll play next-gen games &ndash; using Sony&#39;s Remote Play service to stream PS4 titles.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/my/users/stephen-graves" title="View user profile.">Stephen Graves</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Inside, you get a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, plus 3GB RAM and 16GB storage (expandable to 128GB using microSD); the tablet will run Android 4.4 KitKat at launch. Though being far better than the little external lens people would fix onto their iPhones, Sony&#39;s attempts have seemed mere novelties and as a result, have not been taken seriously enough.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/my/users/erna-mahyuni" title="View user profile.">Erna Mahyuni</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> E-Mount attraction </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The latest leaked photos seem to confirm an E-mount for the QX1 which gives it a lot of flexibility for camera buffs. As for the sensor, the pictures seem to show an Exmor APC-S sensor, though its megapixel count is uncertain for the moment.</p> <p>How will this work? Like the other Q-model lenses, it will probably use the same clip system and likely also fit into special phone cases made for Sony phones. With the E-mount, if you already own Sony lenses, you can just use them with your phone the way you would another camera.</p> <p>Of course this kit will work primarily with Android phones. Other nifty features would be the pairing via NFC for a WiFi direct bridge and using the phone&#39;s screen as a really large viewfinder. Price? Expect the QX1 to cost around US$400 (RM1275) for just the mounting system while a basic kit with the 16-55mm lens could cost you about US$590 (RM1880).</p> <p>If the prices seem steep, the predecessors, QX10 and QX100, weren&#39;t exactly cheap either. And you&#39;re paying for a system that is currently one-of-a-kind and gives you an option to just leave your bulky DSLR at home. If you already own Sony Alpha lenses, then this would be a way to get maximum use for your kit without the added hassle of bringing around your DSLR.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/smartwatch/ifa-2013/hands-video-review-sony-cyber-shot-qx10-and-qx100-smart-lenses-attach-entire-cam">See our hands-on with the QX10 and QX100</a></p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/09/02/sony-qx1-lens-style-camera-press-pic-leaked-confirms-e-mount/" target="_blank">Xperiablog</a>]</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="Sony&#039;s QX1 combines the QX10 and QX100 into the ultimate smartphone DSLR kit" alt="Sony&#039;s QX1 combines the QX10 and QX100 into the ultimate smartphone DSLR kit" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/qx1_2.jpg?1409725769" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sonys-qx1-combines-qx10-and-qx100-ultimate-smartphone-dslr-kit/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sonys-qx1-combines-qx10-and-qx100-ultimate-smartphone-dslr-kit/news#comments Cameras Sony Wed, 03 Sep 2014 05:49:05 +0000 Erna Mahyuni 1446404 at http://www.stuff.tv Apple’s officially holding a press event on 9 September, and all the other news you’ve missed http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-s-officially-holding-press-event-9-september-and-all-other-news-you-ve-missed/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> News in bite-sized pieces, what more do you need to get your Wednesday underway? </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="604" height="453" title="Apple’s officially holding a press event on 9 September, and all the other news you’ve missed " alt="Apple’s officially holding a press event on 9 September, and all the other news " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/1_0.jpeg?1409718713" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>This month is going to be one where you&rsquo;re going to get bombarded left, right, and centre with new gizmos and gadgets.
